April 27, 1998 (Monday)

Dear Elias,

Hello again, it's me. By now you should have taken receipt of the letter I had sent up to you on March 10th, which was in reply to a letter that I'd received from you on March 6th. We discussed my getting together a profile of myself so that you'd be able to formulate a webpage, & I told you it would be under separate cover, so here I am with it:)

This is just going to be a brief letter to follow up on what's been happening in my life, so the website profile will be on the next separate sheet of paper, okay? Well, since I last wrote to you on March 10th, I have gotten into a bit of a dilemma. You see, there was a fight between 2 other individuals while out on the year on Wednesday afternoon, April 15th. I had no involvement in the fight that occurred between the other 2 fellas, but one of the guards said I was being "disorderly." So, he wrote me a disciplinary report on the 15th, for being what he puts as disorderly. At any rate, it carries 30 days disciplinary confinement (DC) time if found guilty, so when I went to my disciplinary hearing on April 22nd, I received 30 days on DC.

So, I've been in this DC cell ever since Wednesday, so this is my 5th day of being on DC as of today. My DR hearing was at 9:30am on April 22nd, & I was removed to this cell at approximately 10:30am. ALL of my personal property was inventoried & stored in the property room along with TV, personal stereo, headphones, etc. So, it was a real pain in the butt to have to be moved from one cell to another, but my cell is supposedly to remain empty for when I get off of DC. I hope so, since I got along well with the guys I was housed around on the floor I came off of. Generally, they do hold the empty cell though, so I should be going back to the same cell once my DC time ends. I received 30 days of DC time, but it could not exceed 30 days, so I might get 20, or I might get 26. It all depends on the unit commander of this housing unit.

The captain is the one who calls the shots as far as how much time a person does, etc. So, it will be up to him when I am released from DC. If it turns out that I end up doing all 30 days of my DC time, I'll be getting off on May 22nd which is a Friday, but I could get off as early as May 18th. Sometimes a person only does 20 days of a 30 day DC, while other times they do 28 or 29 days, so it's hard to really say. When next Monday rolls around I will have served 12 days of my time already. I'm not even allowed to have any novels, magazines, etc. The only reading material I can have is religious, or else legal. I am allowed to receive mail while I'm back here, so I am able to maintain correspondences. No shampoo, no deodorant, no soap except for the harsh lye bars they provide, no coffee, or other snack items, & no battery-shaver, which means I'm forced to use the incredibly dull disposable razors which are passed out on M-W-F. They wreak havoc on one's face, so I dread having to use them, which was why I purchased one of the Norelco battery-shavers in the first place.

So, I just thought you might be interested in my little piece of "hell," although you've got your own worries, eh? I haven't had a DR written on me since April 1993, so it had been five years of being without one, but that had no bearing on my situation. They could've given me just yard suspension, but I guess it wasn't my day. Sometimes you're the windshield & sometimes you're the bug, huh? In this case I turned out being the bug... Life's merely a dance you learn as you go, sometimes you lead & sometimes you follow:)

Well, I don't know exactly what you wanted in my bio, so I guess I'll do it from 17 yrs old to the present day. You can delete & edit whatever isn't necessary, okay? Also, I don't have my photo with me, so I don't have one for you to put on the webpage. I hope you don't need one to go along with it, but since FLA's Dept. of Corrections does have a website on the internet with my photo on it, possibly you can print it off that? The website is http://www.dc.state.fl.us. I believe that's what it is anyway. It has all of the inmates on FLA's death row, as well as all inmates throughout FLA's prisons. It is something they recently came up with. Be well!

Sincerely Yours,

Anton
