Help with Japanese Encoding
Your average computer sold outside of Japan is not equipped for input or output in Japanese language. Not only are the proper fonts missing, but the encoding of Japanese is based on 16bit letters system instead of the standard 8bits. If your browser cannot handle Japanese format, you can view Japanese-encoded pages using the Shodouka Service. Just enter the Japanese-encoded page's address here

Location:
For example, World Wide Shoes-Japan is located at
http://WorldWideShoes.Org/main-j.html
If you type that url in the blank above, you will get a gif version of the page that may not be perfect, but more readable than the average $BF|K\8l. For more information about Japanese language encoding, try The NTT Home Page.

If your trouble is that you don't understand Japanese language itself, then I could recommend some good teachers at the University of Illinois or Waseda University who would be happy to teach you to read Japanese. In the mean time, good luck.
